NSCDC Arrests Politician, 2 Others for oil Theft

Operatives of The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested a politician and two other suspects in connection with alleged oil theft in Akwa Ibom.

 State Commandant of NSCDC in the state, Mr pedro Ideba, disclosed this on Wednesday stating that the culprits used sophisticated method in committing the act.

 according to Mr Ideba, the suspects were arrested last year following a tip-off, they were caught while trying to adulterate petroleum products.

 “In the process of mixing the chemicals, we arrested two tankers using hydrometer in testing the premium of the products,” he said.

 Ideba, who declined to disclose the names of the suspects, said items recovered from the suspects included; a Mercedes Benz car, pumping machine and two tankers.

 He said the suspects were arrested on Ibiakpan Junction in Ikot Ekpene-Itu road. The commandant said officers and men of the command had been trained on how to check the activities of vandals in the area.
