Portugal qualified for the World Cup on Tuesday after Cristiano Ronaldo scored a superb hat-trick for a 3-2 win over Sweden, securing a 4-2 victory on aggregate in their playoff.
After a hesitant first half, Ronaldo opened the scoring
five minutes into the second half, set up by Joao
Moutinho.
Sweden equalized through Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 68th
minute. Three minutes later, Sweden got a free kick just
outside the penalty area and Ibrahimovic gave the home team
a 2-1 lead with a fierce low shot in front of nearly 50,000
spectators.
However, the home fans didn't get to cheer for long.
Ronaldo equalized In the 77th minute and added his third just
two minutes later.
